The rebrand went on to win silver at Promax UK in the best channel identity category!
A new identity was created placing the characters eyes within the Nicktoons logo. This simple solution ties the Nicktoons brand to the characters seamlessly and allows the brand itself to be funny.
Nickelodeon selected key shots to be re-animated to sit in with the branding. Cell animation was re-created in Adobe Flash to give a crisp scalable image. 3D cartoons were modelled and rigged in Maxon's Cinema 4D.
The rebrand included logo, idents, stings, promo packaging, bugs and in-program-pointers as well as re-skinning existing assets to sit within the new brand.

I co-designed, directed and animated this short for Nickelodeon in 1989. It is in the permanent collection of American commercials in MOMA (NYC).Inside-Out Boy is a claymation character that appeared in a collection of five Nickelodeon Shorts between commercials in its original run from 1989 to 1993 on Nickelodeon USA. The first short tells the story on how I.O.B. became who he is. He is playing with his Yo-Yo then goes on a swing, then after swinging too high, he swung over the bar and his body flipped inside out. Making him "Inside-Out Boy". To kids, he is a superhero, with his inner body parts exposed, it grosses out adults making them jump away and scream in the process. Each episode have our hero in situations like having to help his friend at the Science Fair, impressing a Girl, having a rap battle with "MC Mallet", and other situations, proving he's got a lot of what every kids' got inside - guts! The shorts also aired internationally (Planet Nickelodeon / Planet Orange) on Nickelodeon UK and Nickelodeon Germany
Those shorts later re-aired on Noggin in 1999. The character was created by writers William McRobb & Chris Viscardi ("The Adventures of Pete & Pete", "KaBlam!", "The Naked Brothers Band", "Sanjay and Craig", "The Assistants") and Scott Webb.
